We have a patron episode this week about a topic that is frankly far more expansive than a single episode could begin to hope to tackle! Per Andrew Oliveira, we have begun The Kirby Discourse. How much Discourse did we tackle in a single recording session? Uhhh, not much. In the space of an hour and a half, Stuart, Henry, Andrew, and I managed to cover Kirby's Dream Land, its sequel, and Kirby's Adventure. That's it.

Well, don't worry. We love Kirby. There'll be more Kirby discussion in 2022. That's just how it's gotta be.

Just last month I played through Dream Land for the first time. Very well timed, Retronauts!

Hopefully Kirby's Dream Course will be in part 2. So glad it got included in the SNES Classic Edition and the Switch Online SNES lineup.

It was a pleasure to be on again and meet Henry and Stuart. I'm looking forward to recording Part 2, especially since that will include Super Star! Also, I gave crap about Wario episodes beating Kirby onto the show, but last Friday's Patreon exclusive episode was Garfield games. That's even worse! lol

The way I planned things I wanted to cover the platformers first before moving towards the more experimental games. Combined with the fact patron episodes are recorded quarterly, it could be a while. However, it's not like they need to uphold my plans, so who knows? Hopefully if they didn't they would have my on anyway. I've already finished the notes for all the games. lol

Best intro and outro of any Retronauts ever.

Born in the late 80s, I had a NES but basically missed all "new" releases on the platform by the time I actually played them in the early 90s. It's interesting to me knowing that I played Kirby's Adventure in '93, sitting in my parents living room on many a sunny morning, experiencing a "new" game at the same time everyone else was, blissfully unaware how significant the game would be in the history of Nintendo and HAL. Strong nostalgia for the title. It probably helped that the game was easily completable by a child who still didn't have the refined motor skills to be good at games yet, and had yet to beat pretty much any other game I owned at the time.

Roughly one Kirby game a year since 1992 gives Madden a run for its money.

Kirby is such an amazing character! I feel like the reason Kirby can't die is because he is made out of like a balloon-like gelatinous material that can reform if separated. He is basically a majin-buu like character.
