A few months ago, we attempted to tackle one of the biggest, most influential pieces of media from the 20th century, one that's had a profound impact on video games: Godzilla. But wouldn't you know, Godzilla's just too big (and too powerful) a topic to be contained into a single podcast. That previous episode managed to encapsulate a pretty good summary of Godzilla's premise and the cultural petri dish in which the franchise grew, but we didn't actually make it to the games.

Well, hold on to your SKREE-ONK, because that's what this episode is all about. And just the Showa-era games, at that. No Godzilla for Dreamcast or whatever. Just old-style pixellated excellence from the ’80s, from the MSX and Commodore 64 to the NES.

Once again, Matt Alt and Bill Mudron join myself and Diamond Feit. And once again, Greg Leahy edits. Also once again, Leeann Hamilton provide art. It's quite the team effort. Like that one time Godzilla and Mothra teamed up against King Ghidorah.

Man I loved King Of The Monsters as a kid. One of the little gems on NeoGeo cabs. Hopefully we hear about War Of The Monsters next! A late PS2 release by incognito (Twisted Metal: Black) and more of a car combat game.

Wanted to thank you for this episode. I've just gotten back into Pre-90s Kaiju movies and Takusatsu shows and this was right up my alley. Enjoyed it from start to finish and learned many things I didn't know.
