If you enjoyed our look at the Pokemon Christmas Bash album (and who didn't?) back in late 2019, then get ready for a thorough examination of where the English-language Pokemon albums began. 1999's 2.B.A. Master was clearly made as a cheap cash-in to capitalize on a fad that could end at any minute, but even so, many Millennials have fond memories of this curiosity and its many, many songs about friendship. This week on Retronauts, join Bob Mackey and Henry Gilbert as they explore all 13 tracks of this musical monstrosity.

The songs do remind me of the similar album Disney did for Dinosaurs early in the 90s.

You know I went into this ep with a slight sense of dread but it turned out really awesome and funny. Also, D-Train! I love that dude (not being sarcastic). Nice ep!

I will likely listen to this episode numerous times as I was utterly obsessed with this album during my peak early teen fan years. I even had the 50.Grind Pokemon single… The Pokemon techno song gives me 2 Unlimited ‘Theres no limit’ song. As for the whole Misty/Ash shipping, I think the second movie was probably the biggest culprit with Misty being jealous of Ash being kissed on the cheek.

This was hilarious. Love these screwball topics.

Yeah the bridge in the theme song freaking slaps

Oh man, brutal. Nothing reaches the soaring highs of Maddie Blaustein talking shit about memorial day but boy there are some notable ones in here

There's a moment in the show where everyone's in festival clothes and Ash sees Misty with her hair down & has as close to a momentary epiphany as a non-hormonal preteen can, but this is never followed up on.

Listening to this album over 22 years, I would have never known they produced it in a month. Also finding out how screwed over most everyone involved was in the payment department was especially tragic. Shows the ruthlessness of the merchandising industry. As for the album’s contents, I personally like to update the lyrics to reflect the current state of the franchise. So instead of 150, I’ll sing out what the current number of Pokémon are in the most recent generation, then in 2B a Master, I found a way to lyrically incorporate the missing element types (Fairy, Steel, Poison, Dark)

I owned this album when I was a kid and while I thought I remembered all of the songs, not a single second of Everything’s Changing remains in my memory down to the fact that I didn’t even know it existed.
