Is 350 a notable anniversary number? It has a multiple of the kind of big round-ish number people like to celebrate. I mean, if my marriage manages to last for 350 years, we're definitely gonna be pulling out all the stops. With podcast episodes, I'm not so sure. But nevertheless, on this possible occasion, we've decided to address a longstanding oversight: One of the big three's main mascot characters from the 32-bit era. In this case, Sony's (and Naughty Dog's) Crash Bandicoot series. Once again, Stuart Gipp and Digital Foundry's John Linneman join me to drop their actual knowledge as opposed to my own "I read a lot of articles and interviews" knowledge, for an episode rich in actual wisdom and borrowed wisdom. Because when you think Crash, you definitely think "wise."

Thanks to Greg Leahy for the edits and Shaan Khan (www.twitter.com/ShaanKhanArt) for the extraordinary cover illustration!

Yoooo, Crash Bandicoot HYPE

Crash Bandicoot and Retronauts. Two great tastes that taste great together. I’ve been hoping for this episode for a long time now!

They are not apples, I am a fan and I have become irritated. [Insert stereotypical social media fandom anger noises here.] (Lie.)

I’ll admit, I wasn’t thrilled about an episode of Crash Bandicoot, until I heard John Linneman was on this one!

Kind of surprised by the dismissal of the soundtrack of the first four Crash Bandicoot games, especially from John. They're not particularly amazing compared to what was around before it (DKC, etc.), but they certainly added to the laid-back cartoony atmosphere of especially Crash 2 and Crash 3, and I thought many of them were catchy. Thought they had their own distinct style. Any title after that though, and I wouldn't contest that statement imo.

I have never in my life heard anyone mention Keef the Thief on this or any other podcast or in real life other than my friend who bought a copy when it came out.

Crash 4 is the best of the series if you play it just for the single player content. One of the best platformers in years even. But it is a nightmare to complete, like literally 80 hours worth of repetitive content. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was Activision mandated because they couldn’t find a reason to squeeze online functionality so here’s a glut of remixes and rehashes on the same handful of levels.

Jeremy, you and John L have great (forgive me 😬) synergy.
