After a decade of toiling away in the Ace Attorney factory, Capcom's Shu Takumi finally got to make something completely different—but still uniquely him—with 2011's Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective. Like his notable law-talking-guy series, it's an adventure game with a heavy focus on story, but instead of courtroom action, Ghost Trick revolves around creative puzzles that task you with going back in time and saving a person's life the moment before they die. It's a fantastic little game that's hard to explain without spoiling the hell out of it, so on this episode we're offering a spoiler-free first half for everyone who hasn't played it, and a spoiler-intensive back half for everyone who has.

So listen in as Nina Matsumoto and Maddie Copp join the show to gush about this truly unique and completely satisfying adventure game you simply must play or suffer the guilt of disappointing us!

I played this game on my phone in 2012 and immediately fell in love with it. I only wish I could've played it earlier on a DS as it seems like a perfect fit. Haven't touched it since but it has still stuck with me for all the reasons mentioned on this podcast. Just an all around terrific game experience with a story that I would say ranks highly in an all-time best game story discussion. The ending put the biggest smile on my face.

I'm SO glad I paused this podcast, went and played the game, then came back. It was completely worth it!
