This week on Retronauts, we're easing off on the heavy-duty research for the sake of responding to your questions and comments from our recent round of episodes. And because a little thing called "the pandemic" drastically transformed the way we all live for nearly a year now, we'll also cover just how COVID-19 has affected Retronauts, and read some responses from listeners about how the new normal changed their retro gaming habits. Since we recorded this one on Election Day, it's delightfully dated instead of just being dated!

Phoequinox

Thanks for reading mine! I'm the listener formerly known as Matt. Only on Patreon, though. I haven't legally changed my name to Phoequinox. Yet. I actually changed jobs, and my current one doesn't allow me to listen while I work, but I've started rotating my podcasts and YouTube subs so I always have something to enjoy when I come home, make breakfast and do the dishes. Thank you all for being a bright spot of 2020.

I’d be totally down for a Cowboy Games Part 3. That’d go nice back to back with Back to the Future Part III.......To Be Concluded

Michael Castleberry

I gotta say, my comfort game has been "A Link to the Past", beat that twice in a week at one point during this pandemic

El Pescado

Thanks for reading my comment. If you’re looking to get your own Time Traveler cabinet the one we had owned at that time is at the bottom of the ocean now since the entire building collapsed into the ocean during Superstorm Sandy. Luckily we had been out of the arcade business since the late 90’s, but we are still up on the boardwalk and I used to love going back to that old arcade and hanging out in the “Flashback Zone” where all the games I grew up with were kept in pretty good condition for me to reminisce over until they sunk into the depths.

Wow I was in the twice in a row! Thanks!

I hadn't thought about Angela Anaconda for 20 years, and in all honesty, my life was a lot better that way :-( (Fun episode though!)

Good episode! It was nice to hear about your personal experiences over the past few, or at least as nice as it could be to hear about anyone’s experience during the pandemic. You guys are doing great work :)

I really liked this episode; my vote would be for more occasional behind-the-scenes bits and pieces (if there's space and / or they fit with the plans!), if not full episodes. I always enjoy learning about what the hosts & guests play when they're not researching for new topics 👍

Thanks for posting this. I can't speak for anyone else, but I get a lot of comfort from listening to other people's experiences going through this whole thing.

I listened to the first 30 minutes so far (I'm always behind on episode listening too :D) but thanks for reading my letter about FF7AC! I was surprised when I heard my name, quickly thought it must be someone else, and then realized it was my letter! I had totally forgotten that I wrote that, especially in this time vortex of a pandemic. Anyway, I wanted to say to Henry: yes I have reconsidered getting FF7R after a couple of months of seeing reviews, playthroughs, and listening to some of the soundtrack. I am waiting to see if there is a PC port of the game eventually though, since I'd rather play on that than my ancient PS4 at this point. Supposedly it'll happen sometime after a year exclusivity, though we shall see... Thanks again for all the enjoyment before and during the pandemic, and I look forward to always more Retronauts!

When you put out the call for responses, I didn’t think my retro habits had changed much, but since then I’ve broken down and bought a Switch Online sub and introduced my toddler to (watching) retro gaming, mainly Super Mario Kart. It’s great to have some extra games in our rotation.
