I realize posting this now that we basically have two Monday episodes in a row doing the "talk about a modern successor to a legacy franchise" thing when we try to space topics like this further apart. Whoops! But this one is long overdue and keeps getting pushed back in favor of other topics. And now that we've hit the one-year anniversary of Mega Man 11, uh... let's just pretend it's timely again. Yeah.

You may be surprised by the results of this conversation! We hold some very divided opinions re: Mega Man 11

You may also be surprised by some of the things said in this episode that reveal how long it's been in the can. Reggie Fils-Aime was still Nintendo's president when we recorded this! People actually watched ProJared streams! We still referred to the current year as 2018! Our fingers are crossed that this episode is like bottled wine and only grows richer with age, rather than like an open bottle of wine that grows more vinegary with age. Let us know what you think in the comments, you sexy sommeliers of classic gaming, you.

I was fairly down on the game at first but after giving it another shot (and grinding out a couple upgrades) I have come around to it. It’s not at the same level as the series’ high points, but it has some interesting boss weapon mechanics that, mixed in with the gear system, allows for some pretty wild stuff. I just wish it clearly wasn’t balanced around the gears so heavily that it makes using them improperly practically a death sentence until you grab some items.

I think we had at least 2 or 3 references in previously released episodes of the pod to the Mega Man 11 podcast being something that had already happened in the past, so I choose to think of this as the Star Wars prequels, though hopefully with less sand.

I was born in 1982, played plenty of NES & SNES platformers and love them to this day. Somehow, and I don't know how, I never made my way to any of the Mega Man games. Where should I start? I have a PS3, and I see several games available on PSN. I also have a PSP & 3DS. Strongly considering beginning with Mega Man X4. It was on sale a few weeks back so I went ahead and got it.

Play Mega Man 2 (NES) and Mega Man X (SNES)! They're arguably the high points.

I bought this game on launch day and still haven't beaten a Robot Master, so I'm firmly on Jeremy's side here.

I really liked Mega Man 11 and thought it was a good evolution of the classic series. It’s better than almost all of the X series at the very least...

I'd been waiting for a sale before I dip my toe into MM11, but I admit Jeremy and Bob's feelings in this episode have bumped it down a few notches on my list.
