Friends! It's another deep dive as Bob and I convene with Kat Bailey and Brett Elston to discuss the greatest Mega Man game of all: Mega Man X. Handily, this coincides with both the series' 30th anniversary and the recent release of the Super NES mini console, so it's double-relevant. Wow!

I hope you enjoy the gimmicky format I used this week. I tried to make it a fun listen, and I have my fingers crossed that it doesn't cross the line into "irritating" by mistake…

When is the next dive into the Mega Man X series—or ranking hootenanny?

Kormakur Gardarsson

Great deep dive into a true classic. Really liked the format too, made for a focused but free flowing discussion.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there some Inafune quote of Zero being closer to the original look intended for MegaMan? I vaguely remember something about his blue color scheme having to do with the 8-bit palette limitations. Super fun episode, I really dug the format, very entertaining!

I agree, I liked the format as well. I think this was one of the game soundtracks I recorded manually with a handheld cassette recorder so I could make video game mix tapes...

Manoman, what a great episode! Nice to hear Brett and Kat again. Tho I couldn’t help but wonder how hard Brett was biting his tongue about the upcoming Legacy Collections for X and MM 11. Also, big kudos for the ‘stage select’ format!

Great episode guys! This is the one I've been waiting for. I was obsessed with the X series in my teenage years. Loved the fun new format and all of the insightful discussion. I also loved the coordinated songs for each of the "stages" of the podcast. Jeremy knocked it out of the park in this one!

I do believe Retronauts did a deep dive into Megaman 2 back in the 1up days. It was one of the video podcasts you guys did. I recall their being an argument over the pronunciation of bubble lead

Look. I know this is simply not the place to fight this fight but The Clone Wars CGI cartoon is the best thing to happen to Star Wars is 37 years. Better than RotJ and KotOR and the Thrawn trilogy and every single thing that has happened since Empire.

Great episode. I loved hearing all the X music play before each segment.

The Mega Drive (Genesis) remixes Brett referred to during the episode: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CzkswHHxQI. Some are incredible; the leads are so much crisper and it really comes out in sections like Boomer Kuwanger's bridge. Highly recommended.
