Hey there, Patreon backers, it's Jeremy. Our first Season 4 episode goes live to the public today, but at the same time you — the cool backers who make this podcast possible — get an early listen to our new "off week" program, Retronauts Micro. Micro is basically what last season's Pocket was supposed to be: Short, to the point, and decidedly different than the regular episodes. I'm sure this first episode won't be to everyone's tastes, but it's meant to be bonus content to keep things lively between biweekly episodes. Next week we'll be back with a full episode. So enjoy (maybe?) this brief discussion of the TI-99/4A home computer, and thanks as always for your support! We literally could not do this without you.And yes, we've heard your requests for a backer/early access RSS feed. We will be looking into it in the coming weeks! Thanks for your patience.

I'm not sure which brought in more financing: Kickstarter or Pateron, but moments like this make me really like the Vol. IV approach. I loved contributing to the kickstarter, but being on a Patreon seems much more intimate and involving. Thank you so much for taking my money (and hearing the need for an backer RSS feed).

Cool. I grew up in the Dallas area in the late 70's through the 80's, and my best friend's stepdad worked at TI. So while I had had an Atari 2600 at home, whenever I slept over or hung out at my friend's house I got to play games on his much more impressive TI-99/4A. I was obsessed with Parsec (including the box art, which my friend had a big poster of on his wall), but also spent quite a few hours on Hunt the Wumpus, Munch Man, and TI Invaders. It was a huge part of my early experiences with video games (and programming!) that even I tend to forget about sometimes. Nice to see it getting some attention. Weirdly, a lot of those memories came rushing back very recently because I saw that some online publication used an ad for the TI-99/4A featuring Bill Cosby standing in front of a wall of games as a period stock photo for an article dealing with all the rape allegations.

hey, at least it isn't about progressive rock. (kidding--I liked that ep!). I like the idea of using the minisodes as a platform for smaller, more obscure topics, personally....

Let it be known that the anti-Stossel and Progrock were beloved by many. Keep it weird, retronauts.

Oh hey, cool. Glad you guys (or at least some of you) enjoyed this approach. I was pretty worried about this this would go down. — Jeremy

Great episode! Looking forward to seeing how the rest of the micro episodes go, but a great start.

Hej, I was born in the late 80's and I basically started playing video games with the N64 and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (and thus comparatively late). Of course throughout the years after I tried to consume as much of the "older / previous" game culture artifacts as possible, while being the SNES era probably one of my favourites among them. Anyway, I am glad that through such episodes as you've shown now with this micro episode, one can actually get some first-hand insights into, well, not completely but almost forgotten, very early days. I enjoyed listening quite much, and for my taste it could have been even a bit longer ;) Looking forward to the upcoming micro episodes!
