It's Moon Pie throwing season!

Although New Orleans had the first organized Mardi Gras in 1699, four years before Mobile, Alabama (pronounced Moe-Beel), Mobile had the first formally organized parade in 1830.  Flinging Moon Pies from the parade floats in Mobile didn't become a thing until after 1950...it never really caught on in New Orleans.  Along with the usual assortment of beads, doubloons, candy, and other trinkets...you are, however, more likely to be struck by flying women's undergarments along St Charles Avenue in New Orleans than you are on Government Street in Mobile.  Ask me how I now.  :P

Oh, speaking of a undergarments or a lack thereof...  Not that the parade-goers will mind, Ann, but the krewe is supposed to throw beads -from- the float...not have them thrown -at- it.  Just sayin'.  :D
