Ann had never made a point of trying to pick up women in bars, but when a lounge singer with an hourglass figure struts over to your table and begins to hit on you, exceptions can be made. That was years ago, Ann and Kaori meeting for the first time in a hotel lounge...Ann was in Go City for a weekend surgical conference, Kaori singing in her hotel's lounge. Feigning some mysterious stomach bug, Ann missed most of the conference. Likewise, pretending to have a bout of laryngitis and unable to perform, Kaori spent the weekend in Ann's hotel room.

Now, a little closer to home, the two meet at their usual rendezvous on an almost weekly basis. Dr. Possible, having taken lunch from the hospital, slips off her lab coat and tosses it onto the bed. Kaori, hours away from her first set in the Middle Motor Lodge's lounge, kicks her heels off to one side or the other.
