They never actually say what Lillian Test does for a living, only eluding to her being a 'businesswoman'.  Given that her husband is stay-at-home father and that she more than likely (solely) flips the bill for all of her daughter's high-tech science gear, she's probably high-level management.  Corporate finance, business insurance...who knows?

Given the opportunity, who wouldn't hesitate to bend her over the board room table and show her their bar graph?  :D
