I can't remember if I made a post after I quit my job back in January of this year.  The long and short of it was (as most of you know) that I was furloughed from my long-time employer, a private aviation company on a nearby airport, just before Christmas of 2019.  I didn't find another job until March of 2020, a week into the pandemic.  Since nobody was hiring through much of 2020, I was stuck in a rut...do I quit and hope for the best or continue on, slaving away for the worst employer I'd ever had?

January of 2021 came around and I'd had enough.  Let's just say if you ever find yourself unemployed and have the opportunity to do maintenance work for a home owners association (under the guise of a HOA management company)...don't.  Politely give them the finger, walk out the door, and find something else.  Shit pay, shit to non-existent benefits, shit promotion potential, shit management...just shitty all around.  The only upside to that job was that it reduced my commute time from 30 to 45 minutes down to 3 or 4 minutes.

Today however, I accepted a maintenance position, working for the airport authority...on the same airport I'd worked on all those years.  It's a government job, so the starting pay isn't the best, but (unless you're working for a company in the upper 10% of Fortune 500 companies) you cannot beat the benefits.

I don't have an actual start date yet.  Their HR works just as quickly as you'd imagine it does.  It could be next week...or next month.
