Thank you for sharing this! Do you know what the long term plans are for this app in terms of monetization? I am just wondering, because it seems to store data in the cloud that could easily be stored on device and users require an account to use it, so my guess is that this will eventually become a paid subscription service. I strongly dislike subscription apps, especially those that start out "free" and then start charging once people have integrated it into their daily routines, so it would be good to know beforehand.

The app saved me $45 a month; I never watch live TV so paying for live Hulu makes no sense, so when the reminder binged next I just said DO IT, and it’s done.

The long term plan is to make the app into a personal assistant, to be as proactive as possible, to do as many things for us as possible. The data is stored in the cloud, but that's needed for remote notifications, since local notifications have a lot of limitations, though everything is encrypted at all times, so every time you get a notification, the reminder text is decrypted right before you see it on your device. As for subscriptions, the main features will always be free. There will be a subscription at some point, but only for certain intensely demanding features (AI-powered) to offset cloud costs, and only once we make sure they really are worth paying for.

Hi - can I just ask a similar question about the cloud storage? Where is it stored and do the developers have any access to the information? (My job has confidentiality requirements so can’t put work related tasks where they won’t be confidential).

We use Amazon cloud infrastructure, so their products are responsible for authentication, backend storage, and just about everything else, which helps us keep everything secure, since they're a major player always up to date on security and regulations. And all data is encrypted in transit and at rest. The only person who can see your reminders or any other information unencrypted is you, and only on your device.

5 Dysfunctions of a Team was actually an interesting read. This coming from someone who could read an entire 5 book series, get bored in the last 10 pages, and never read it again. Did you ever finish it??
