The struggle is too real! Science, medicine, education, and the country as a whole is in a terrible state of chaos because people don’t verify information. People seem to think that if someone put words on paper (or screen) and they agree with the position that it is fact. ANYONE can say they conducted a study, write a paper about it, and put it on social media and people will believe it. It is the modern era snake oil salesman! Even television shows proclaiming to be reputable medical shows or news programs are disseminating inaccurate, misleading, or even false information that the public laps up without questioning it. This is terrifying!

I love that your dog has the same name as me because I think, Yes, yes I DO have a lot to say about articles floating around on the internet! I really want media literacy and science literacy to be taught in schools and for posts about them to be more widespread because often, unfortunately, articles are poorly written based off of a single study or with pieces taken out of context and people tend to take what's written to be fact because "it's science!" But they don't actually know anything about how scientific research works, and the way results are presented outside of the scientific community to the public is a huge problem. Also, then I end up with my mom lecturing me about something I actually study in school and do a lot of readings and research on, because she read a single article so suddenly she thinks she has all the information. Love my mom, but that's just annoying! Please do a video on media literacy, I think it would be so useful and is sorely needed <3

Here is a very interesting article I heard a few months ago about media literacy and the efforts of a teacher to help his students spot fake news. https://www.npr.org/2018/04/03/599240683/how-a-teacher-in-france-is-trying-to-help-her-students-spot-fake-news
