Content warning for hospitals and injuries, not detailed.

So for those who haven't heard, here's the story. On the morning of Sunday (7 May 2023) I was leaving the showers at the gym and had what the doctors think was a focal or absent seizure cos a witness told the paramedics that I looked dazed and was walking in circles before I tripped and fell and didn't try to catch myself. I almost hit my head on a workout bench on the way down. But I still face planted pretty hard. From the moment I walked out of the shower, I don't remember anything until a paramedic was shining a light in my face asking for my name and my entire skull felt like it was in a vice. I don't even remember getting dressed, but thank goodness I did. I missed all my work meetings and the stream that night. I didn't even think to tweet until I finally had some alone time from all the doctors and nurses and tests sometime around 3AM I think.

I got a concussion and had to get a stitch on the bridge of my nose, and two of those dissolvable stitches above my left eyebrow. I've been under observation since Sunday (it's now Wednesday) and I just got settled in to a rehab facility where they can continue to monitor me. Apparently the doctor says technically I would have been sent home Tuesday, but they used my muscle disorder as an excuse to get my insurance to pay for a monitoring and rehab period just so that I can have a regular bed to sleep in for at least the next few days, so, props to them.

Anyway, because I live in my car, a social worker has been working with me and the hospital and my insurance to try and get me as much of this "excessive" care as possible without charging me, but this is still going to most likely be a pretty hefty bill on top of my other piles of medical debt and student loans from college (hooray for America). I got the paperwork done today for my medical leave of absence, though, so luckily I'll still be getting pay during my recovery and time off. I got 3 weeks of paid medical leave that was retroactively enacted Sunday, then Memorial Day is a holiday, and then I'm going to put in another 2 weeks of vacation time I have available, so I won't have to go back to work until the 12th of June. As usual, all I can think about is what work I can get done during this time, but I'm going to try and force myself to relax, for at least a couple weeks, so no streams unless I end up feeling amazing sooner than I expect. And ask for as many free drugs as possible to stockpile my supply, lol.

Just wanted to let y'all know the entirety of the situation.

Thanks for waiting,
Godot
