Christmas is getting closer again this year!

We will start Christmas song lessons next week! This year we will cover “Silent Night” and “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen”.

If you can master these Christmas songs you will literally become Santa!! (Disclaimer: you will likely not actually become Santa, but it will be fun to play at your family gatherings,etc!)

Before getting into the new songs, you might want to review “Jingle Bells” lessons from last year!

What you can learn from this lesson:

1. You will use major scale Tsubo in the song, so you can learn to hold Tsubo more accurately with other songs that also use major scale.
2. You can learn to play cover songs in Tsugaru Shamisen style.

What you can learn from this lesson:

1. You can practice to play a song by Shamisen with swing rhythm. Let’s feel the groove!
2. You can practice a variety of Tsugaru techniques such as Sukui and Hajiki. It is necessary to brush up each basic Tsugaru technique if you want to play any songs in Tsugaru style.

If you would like to improve your level even more...

Let’s try to add even more Tsugaru technique on top of Sukui and Hajiki that are already on the music sheets for each lesson, and make it as your original arrangement. It would probably be challenging at the beginning. However, practicing little by little will develop your arranging skill so that you cover/arrange your favorite song by yourself eventually!
