How Monthly Billing Cycles are handled by Patreon (...a reminder) (Patreon)
Content
There seems to be some confusions going around, so I thought I write up this little reminder/explanation to clean up the air on how the billing cycles work on Patreon.
When you sign up (the date doesn't matter), Patreon charges you straight away for the given month. So from their point of view, it doesn't matter if you signed up on the 1st or the 29th of January, you signed up for January, you gain access to all content that was/will be posted in January, so they will charge you the full tier fee for the month, and then they will automatically renew your subscription on the 1st of each subsequent month, until you cancel your subscription.
We - patreon creators - have no option to change this into a 30 day rolling cycle that is based on the date when the user signs up (which admittedly would make much more sense).
To be fair with Patreon, they clearly communicate this on the sign-up page. (and I also make note of this under each tier's description)
Is this a 100% fair system of billing?... Sure it isn't! But it's the only monthly option Patreon offers at the moment. (Though there have been talks that a proper 30 day rolling cycle will be introduced later this year.)
Please don't hate on me for how Patreon handles this. I'm not trying to scam or cheat anybody here... Rest assured, I deeply appreciate each and every one of yours' support!
