I'm going to switch to working on Adulting because the HF scene keeps crashing my computer. I'll rebuild the scene and try again.

What CPU are u using for render?

Intel i7-4930 @3.4GHz, 32 GB RAM and a GeForce GTX 1080Ti. This scene is right on the edge of what my computer can handle. I think the problem is with hidden items. Normally hiding an item is enough, but in a really big scene the unneeded items have to actualy be deleted. The problem is that the scene is so full, trying to delete locks it up. I did an experiment and was able to delete an item, but it took almost 20 minutes. I had to just walk away and let the computer fight through it. I'm going to try this first, since it would allow me to render the scenes that are ready to go. Wish me luck.

My "someday" plan is to either build a new computer or as a stop gap replace my CPU and Motherboard, which would also allow me to add more RAM. I replaced the hard drive already. My power source is good. So doing more work to my existing PC will probably be the way to go, just to save money. Ultimately I need a faster processor and more RAM.

Woah that's a nice beast. I think you could try with amd processors, they perform much better in rendering. Take a look to the 3700x, it's cheap and damn powerful. I recently got a 3950x and it's a real monster

hanks for the tip. I checked out AMD and their metrics for rendering look great compared to Intel. I liked the 3950X. When I original got my current computer years ago, it was overkill, but 3D modeling caught up. to spread out the time between upgrades, I plan to go for overkill again.
