This is a test of an AI generated voice reading one of my stories, "Hired Girl". This is just half a meg file, but what do people think? Anyone interested in seeing -- or hearing -- more of this kind of thing?

IMO the thing the distinguishes good audio books from bad is that the good ones have the tone of voice change to fit the context, putting some emotion into the reading. Bad ones are just flat, with very little variation in tone or volume, this had no variation.

This is better but still not so good. You guys are pretty much confirming my own opinion. Kind of minimal, but it would save a LOT of work and expense.

A useful presentation tool for readers with eyesight problems, if they didn't have a text to audio program of their own. Although I'm impressed by the voice interpretation, as I haven't heard an AI reader for a while, if I was listening to this over time I think my attention would wander off, like having background music.

I find almost all audio books mind-numbing myself, but I am easily distracted.
