Just a few thoughts and things I want to share.

First, is about Dee. I was talking with a few people while playing a multiplayer game, who know about First Contact, and I keep getting asked two things: What's Dee's real name, and if I'm going to redeem her and make her more sympathetic.

The number one thing seems to be that I should make her more sympathetic, since she's a villain and 'people like sympathetic villains!' is a battlecry nowadays.

Well... no. Let me put that plainer. Fuck no.

When Disney tried to make Cruella DeVille a sympathetic villain all I could do is stare at the idiots who bought that bit of villain press. The bitch SKINS PUPPIES! I don't give a shit what her motivation is, she SKINS PUPPIES! So, fuck her. She's not sympathetic, she's a fucking monster.

And so is Dee.

Is she understandable. Yes. We can all see and understand what went sideways with her, what turned her so cruel and took her empathy. We can all nod along and go "Sounds legit" but that doesn't mean we approve or condone.

She's understandable, not sympathetic.

As to her name, I said it before, I'll say it again. She remains nameless so she can represent every woman who had her accomplishments stolen or hidden in the name of National Security. To give her a name would be to reduce her somehow.

Another thing is, when people tell me "Oh, in a GOOD story she would change and grow!" what I hear is "If I was writing it, I'd have her change and grow so everyone loved her and she became a good person in my eyes!"

Well, she did change. She did grow.

But a poisonous bush is still poisonous even when it changes and grows.

Well, that being said about everyone's favorite psychopathic demon dommy-mommy, let's move on.

We're in the wrap-up. I'm really happy with how it's going. As a matter of fact, I'm so happy I'll give everyone a sneak peek of the final chapter.

CHAPTER XXXXX

---NOTHING FOLLOWS---

There you go! As you can see, it answers all of your questions and more! I know, I know, it's a bit verbose, I perhaps went too deep on the descriptives and adverbs, but, you know what, I think it stands on its own.

<laughs>

OK.

I've got a big list of people to tie up before I put them on the train tracks and run off.

Sandy is one.

And "The Child" for "A Child Shall Lead Them" has to take their place. Taking bets now on if anyone guesses who it will be and in what capacity.

Not to mention, Daxin will face the hardest choice he has ever had to face in thousands of years.

We've got some fun ahead.

And I'm glad you've all joined me for this.

As ever, be good to yourselves and to one another.

Anyone who wants Dee changed is uninterested in good storytelling. The whole point of Dee is that’s she’s a complete bitch, because that’s what life made her. Having her become “good” would be perverse. What’s up with Lee, Ken, and Sam-NU?

I like your stance on The detainee's name. I feel she relishes her anonymity and wears it as a badge, a battlescar, one more constant reminder to herself and everyone of how abused she has been throughout her life. I feel she would use the loss of her name as one of man excuses for her manipulative and sadistic behaviour (oakies ate my dog - which considering the friend plague is motivation for evil x100). I do find what makes Dee an interesting villain is that her ACTIONS may be sadistic or evil to individuals, her actions, and her primary motivation, is the security and benefit of all humanity, or even as she put it "could benefit all life everywhere".
