This is great! Very relaxing and I love the subtle cosmic horror implications. Some of those tests make it seem like our tech looked a bit long and a bit too closely into the anomaly herself.

love it. i have a sci-fi setting where this more or less happens. being within a certain radius of the rift (to hell, basically) equally drives unprotected humans crazy and scrambles the code of unprotected machines - and protected ones too, just, more slowly. so one character’s job is just to go around checking all the automated defense AIs for errors and resetting them.
