The descent into the dark tunnel was brisk and slow. Every step taken was treacherous on the icy slope and solid footing was impossible to find. That last stretch from the rocky crag to the  slick patch of rock resulted in a headlong dive to the bottom of the trench. As I lay trying to tell if I was in one piece, I heard an eerie echo resonating throughout the icy hall.

"Clankity, clank" I could hear a chilling noise bouncing off the walls coming straight for me. In a flash, a creature glided into my sight! This nightmarish Ice Fiend with creepy exoskeleton prowled around my heap of a body with a bug-eyed glare and chomping mandibles. 

I decided that in my vulnerable state, the best I could do was to play dead. He prodded me with his spear and let out a deafening screech to call for his clan; I was surely their next meal. In an adrenaline-fueled rage, I leaped to my feet while swiping his spear from his grasp. I was able to plunge it into a weak spot beneath his arm and make a run for it!

The maze of ice and stone was difficult to navigate but I was slowly able to find my way to the entrance and back to safety. I know this won't be the last I'll see of these horrid monsters!
