At the behest of our Superdelegate patron tier, we have returned to a TV show that is one of the prime relics of mid-2000s libertarian culture. We watch episodes of PENN & TELLER: BULLSHIT! on topics as disparate from handicapped parking to reparations, but find that for the libertarian funnymen, it all comes back to property rights. PLUS: thoughts on the QAnon human-trafficking thriller that's rocking the box office, and a shocking allegation that Napoleon Bonaparte was a bad guy.

The wild thing about Ron Paul fandom is I remember self-described leftish people post-2008 turning to libertarianism as an alternative to status-quo politics. It had something to do with his takes on drug laws, and on war, but I suspect also because they had a bad but worked-out and seemingly coherent (and backed by interested think tanks etc.) take on what was wrong with the economy. It was banks being induced to lend irresponsibly to aggregated individual borrowers because of misguided government policy (perversity/jeopardy)! The only solution is to let them fail and learn some survival skills in the mean time (like reading Mr. Money Mustache). Suspect it appeals to a sort of anti-materialistic moralistic mindset and ideals of anti-government self-sufficiency amongst the more protesty parts of the 90s/00s (pro-equality but also big brother is out to get you).

Strangely, I cannot find it either! It was with a guy called Matt Bufton and was put on by something called The Bespoken Bureau. It's gotta be out there somewhere but doesn't seem to be on YouTube anymore. https://www.liberalstudies.ca/people/matt-bufton/ -L
