The Villain in the original Top Gun was also a nebulous enemy that was obviously the Soviet Union but was not named in the film.

Canvassed for NDP in Uni-Rosedale and 9/10 of the folks that I managed to talk with expressed some kind of disillusionment with voting in this election. Wasn’t surprised at all to see the low turnout after hearing “why should I bother?” over and over at the doors. The response the NDP told me to give for that question was pretty weak too, I wouldn’t have bought it either.
