Don’t know if y’all have done it yet but AKIRA(1988) I think would be a great choice would love to hear y’all’s take on it as well your opinions on Anime in general.

Throwing my weight behind this nom. Ample territory for the boys to get into mid-late 90s teen boy culture (when this was popular on VHS and the only anime anyone knew), the “exotic” (Orientalist?) sentiment around anime, weebs, the movie itself, animation in general, etc. A refreshing change of pace.

Still riding my High (Fidelity) from last month. But I'll get on the board. Looks like there's particular interest in the war film this round. I submit 2001's Enemy at the Gates. It includes a Russian propaganda campaign, two snipers somehow determining the entire balance of WW2 (great man of history theory), and one of the most pitiful (and unnecessary) sex scenes in film.
