Everyone has their price. Anything that has ever meant anything to you will be corrupted. No artwork you love really belongs to you. This is the dark message of the new Disney+ short film THE SIMPSONS IN PLUSAVERSARY (2021). PLUS: we talk about a range of TV and film, including Parks & Recreation, 2012, and the cinema of Fred Halstead.

Didn't 2012 end with Africa as the only remaining landmass? I forget if it was implied that they were returning to a depopulated garden of eden or if they were coming proverbial hats in hand into an unscathed political configuration, with the shuffling of hierarchies that implies. Either way it was the weirdest part of the movie for me. It's kind of like a less smart version of the end of Peking Opera Blues, where what is presented in afterthought instantly pulls the rug out from under the generic resolution.
