You know the drill. There will also likely be a second runoff poll comprised of the top three candidates (unless one choice obviously dominates).

Please select your Top 3 Candidates from the list below by Thursday, March 27 at 11:59pm EST.

As usual, many of the people who offered suggestions gave compelling reasons for their choices, which you can read in the comments on the original post: https://www.patreon.com/posts/may-caucus-51626487

Yeah I'll make the case for Sansho the Bailiff, with a few hours left to vote. It's just one of my favourite films. I wasn't really expecting it to get many votes and thought about putting forth a more "accesible" choice, but I wanted to make a case for it as one of the most detailed and textured fables about political idealism. Specifically with the Governor's son, Zushio, the amount of disenchantment and, ultimately, acceptance of his father's beliefs largely keeps him and his sister alive, without Mizoguchi sacrificing the very real portrayal of suffering and indignity they go through. There's so much truth in the film's structure and is the most beleagured, beaten-down plea for hope I know of.

Come on guys and gals, not the power point presentation documentary. Ec dub, ec dub, ec dub, ec dub.
