The latest Superdelegate selection is the Canadian cult classic CUBE (1997), in which a handful of people need to find their way out a mysterious, deadly structure comprised of many identical cubes. The structure is, of course, a metaphor for our society, but what, exactly, is its ideology? We offer a theory. PLUS: the return of Godzilla, Luke's days as a child actor, and why the Biden years will be The Era of the Mods.

Watching the worlds expert lung doctor testify in the trial of George Floyd's murderer today, compared with the cop who testified earlier this week, got me all ACAB for this episode.

Not sure I entirely agree with the take on stuff like Substack. I think it's fair to say that the discourse about it exceeds its actual reach and influence - but I think that criticizing it for the types of content it platforms and privileges is completely valid. The fact that they are giving certain writers advances etc. says to me that they have an editorial line, whether they mean to or no. Anyways, the fact that there is morally contemptible anti-trans crap in the Guardian or other large outlets with a wide reach does not really let small outlets like Substack off the hook for publishing the same. You could make the same criticism of someone like Joe Rogan, honestly. I think what bugs me about it is that implicitly or otherwise places like Substack are pitched as anti-establishment (some of its writers certainly do) - but if it's essentially a different coat of paint on a lot of the same reactionary mainstream ideas then that means its utility is pretty limited compared to actual left outlets.
