The "anti-anti-pumpkin spice" take reminds me a lot of the reactions to the term "basic bitch". The latter is widely understood to be a largely white, petite bourgeois phenomenon, and since this group tends to think of itself as socially conscious, you see some weird reactions from people who aren't used to being punched up at.
