Everyone has their price, and so no one is worth anything. This is the thesis of Jason Reitman's annoying libertarian comedy THANK YOU FOR SMOKING (2006), based on the novel by Christopher Buckley, which dares to ask the question: "What's worse - the tobacco lobby, or some annoying libs?" PLUS: Canadian mediocrity, the role of the media, and the looming candidacy of Joe Biden.

I don't remember a ton about the book, just that it had sexy intrigue instead of the kid character, and the movie was really boring by comparison.

Ivan Reitman has been straight in saying he is a "libertarian conservative guy"
