In Akira Kurosawa's KAGEMUSHA (1980), a lowly thief is recruited to impersonate a feudal warlord, and he almost gets away with it. This mighty epic gives us opportunity to ponder the role of illusion in maintaining power, and whether or not a lie will always be exposed. PLUS: Recapping the U.K. election, and hey, have you heard about this Joe Biden character?

this is a bit left field but I think a good historical electoral parallel to the UK election is the 2015 Alberta election - ostensibly "progressive" party running to the right wins landslide thanks to unpopular establishment conservative incumbent facing vote splitting with even further right upstart party. the vote shares aren't even that far off! Now to look what happened 4 years later and take a big sip of coffee...

What’s the deal with George Galloway?

JF

He parlayed his brief turn as an MP into a US speaking tour to flog a shoddy little booklet railing against Bush and Blair and their fiasco in Mesopotamia (a rare miss from Haymarket—though it was a brand new operation in 2005), then the famous debate with Hitch (Galloway to CH: “… you drunk ex-Trotskyist popinjay…”) then fell off a cliff. Last i checked (a long time ago) he was debasing himself on British reality TV doing some real wild shit. Forty years ago he was associated with some sort of Maoist flavored sectlet I think, from whence his almost entirely underserved reputation as a soapbox firebrand issued. I saw him in Boston and he was very underwhelming. His main move seemed to be peppering his spiel with lots of Fucks!! in a heavy Scottish accent as he dripped flop sweat and waited a beat or two too long for the pop from the crowd after his—canned—one liners and such

Correction, katsuyori (shingen’s son) was aware of the double, but resented it, and he asks that question at the meeting to try and blow up the scheme.
