I love Munich. It’s probably my favourite late-Spielberg. It’s not really a story, just a series of brilliant and complex set pieces that all underline just how much human and mechanical error can fuck shit up. DC is obviously on a dry run for James Bond here, with the only real difference being the hair and accent. His presence underlines how much Munich is the antithesis to the sterile precision of Casino Royale. However, even I consider the sex scene late in the movie a misstep. Why is he thinking about the Munich hostages? Surely it would make more sense that he’d be reflecting on all the killing he’s done.
