Jacob

Anybody else wonder how Sam is going to be connected to this? He did say he needed to go to Saint Anthony, perhaps that boogiewoman he saw was Gus and his sisters mother?

PatronTurtle

More meddling going on in the background in this one. Who's the lady on the radio? Who's organizing this group?

J B

The lady Sam saw had two children with her, one boy & one girl. Much like how Jen has Gus & Paris, maybe?

J B

So we now have the follow up story plot - nail their slippery asses before Mel's harem & Sam's feed stock get disturbed. Add in the soldiers (Legionaries?) and you might well have the crossover defined with the rest of the serieseses

J B

Anyone else wonder if Trish isn't from Vince's timeline?

LunarLilith

Trish is Patricia from Vince's world. This where she ended up going through the portal.

PatronTurtle

That'd be a really big red herring. Patricia (an Elven Dryad Sorceress) disappears from Vince's timeline followed by a Trish (short for Patricia) appearing that's an Elven Dryad Sorceress in Gus's timeline. Do you have an alternative theory?

J B

The only real alternate IMO is that she's from one of Zeus's worlds where violent slaughter is much more common...

Anonymous

I thinks I'ts pretty clear that Trish is from Yosemite. She talks about thinking to never having an own grove, how violent her old world was (the wild wastes one). Also the way Patricia left through the portal in SsosH3 left all of us wondering in which Book/World she would pop up. My only question is how long Trish has now been living in the SS world and if the times for the two worlds are locked or on different speeds.

Who do you think is behind the Terror-Attacks and the Intention to expose the Paras to the world? The World of SS and Inc Inc is obviousliy the world of Zeus, yet we haven't seen any of his agents and right now the world seems pretty "normal" and "healthy". I wouldnt expect the other MCs (Runner, Ryker, Felix and Vince) to destabilize the world, because they propably can't even reach it yet. Maybe Sunshine and/or Al? But i would doubt that, because Kit and Lilly are seemingly pro stable/healthy world. Who would want to mess with the world if Runner has no influence on it? What purpose would that serve?

J B

Given the one acknowledged agent we've seen to date - Seville - it isn't clear to me if we have or haven't seen any other Zeus-ian agents. Seville fit into the world very smoothly, and only his confession & Norwood's reaction are why I can consider him acknowledged.

Yissnakk

Still can't read Gus say, "I'm a Boogieman" without hearing Rob Zombie's "Boogie Man" :)

Yissnakk

I think that the stated goal of Zeus is destruction, not take-over. It was stated that Zeus couldn't learn (could have changed but it was strongly indicated that this was hard coded) and that his objective was to destroy the ship and Srit.

Matthew Murphy

Ugh. That ending though. Reading one of his books makes me want to go through and read them all again to see what I missed. I didn't keep up with the farm until it was released because the first few chapters didn't interest me, but I was surprised at how fast i fell for it once it came out in its completed form. Anyone else feel that way?

Nick Cartwright

Why does gus hardly use his power's? I feel there are a lot of situations they would help in but he doesn't use them. I mean in his transformed state he has claws and enhanced strength. At least strength greater than a troll as demonstrated when his mother broke the hand cuffs.

WilliamDArand

Because he'd have to kill anyone who saw it or wiped their minds? It's a risk. Being a kill on sight species and all.

J B

Surviving a fight only to get assassinated would truly suck, indeed.

Nick Cartwright

Most of those situations he has to kill everyone anyways. However there were definitely some situations were he would expose himself if he used his powers. So, I see what you mean

Avoid Shisnos

i wonder if a different planer lord is responsible for the mess we saw or if Zeus isn't the only "threat" that Runner has to deal with maybe other ships crew rebelled against Runner and are running there own sims/servers separately so possibly Runner has Zeus AND other ships crew to deal with

Yissnakk

None of the other crew have GM access...unless Zeus was able to bypass and import users...

Jacob

Runner killed the entire crew off. The only other people that would be on the ship would be the ones that srit and runner grew

Matthew

Not the entire crew Either, pretty sure Steve from Remnant is a crew member, and Runners ex was living in Norwood as well, Im sure I read Runner was not sure what to do with the rest as none of that has come up so far, I wonder when will find out :)

Cryostorm

Yeah, if I remember right he only logged out those involved in that massive battle/ambush so anyone doing something else, like his ex, stayed in game and probably keeping out of Runner's way.

Dayne Mayes

Lots of great commentary in here. I’m still in the “absorb and digest” stage of post-reading bliss.

I really like the grit of this novel. However, I'm a little disappointed in the repeat of what I call the "Arand Trope". What I mean by this is that the hero seems to be getting a handle on things and is suddenly cut off from their support base Ii.e. SSoSH1, SSoSH2, Dungeon Deposed 2, Remnant, FF2 where Alex is caught behind enemy lines etc. I feel like you rely on this a little too much, but as an avid reader, I have to say that Swing Shift feels very organic even though it goes down the same path. It's just more believable in a "Die Hard" way in this story. In short, I loved swing shift and gave it five stars, but be conscious of this habit in the future so it doesn't become the "Arand Formula".

Anyone else think Minxy might be the entity on the other end of one or more of Mel’s contracts?
