Feel free to ask questions, it can be weird :)

Setting:
Some type of slave novel. Sci-fi/Modern
Main Character Powers:
Modern day world, but everyone actually has a unique power. The best regarded are those that allow manipulation of others, increase abilities, or telepathy. Much of the world is involved in “super hero” and “Super villain” skirmishes. Crime syndicates rarely happen since a super hero will just raze it the moment it’s visible.
Main character only has the power to modify/upgrade possessions as if they were a video game screen. Must be his through purchase and be viewed as his property. Amount that can be modified depends on quality of item and “mana”.
Everyone’s power would have limits, most will “feel” empty as they hit it. Customize screen only available to possessions and shows amount of customization he can do.
Limitations:
Main character suffers from low mana as part of an ongoing citywide drain on behalf of the superhero association.
Main character works at McDonald's as a shift manager
Turning Point:
The association fails, and the country where he lives falls into anarchy for a time, where his mana skyrockets. Having never used it except for simple things his reservoir continually tried to rebuild itself against the drain.
As he gains more slaves, his mana pool begins to expand and become greater as a portion of their mana flows to him. The more powerful his slaves, the more power he receives. Therefore in investing into their repowering, he gains more power. They act as transistors, amplifying his power.
After a period the anarchy ends and a new government takes the place of the hero association, it legalizes vices and slavery, but everything else remains mostly the same. The king is dead, long live the king.
Change:
Inadvertently purchases one young woman who was sold to him on accident when he believes he’s actually buying ten bins full of cheap computer parts he hopes to resell after upgrading them. Receives paperwork for 1 slave and a slave box with a five thousand capacity, bound by his blood, created by one of the villains who run the government now. Doesn’t even pay as the person selling them assumes he’s the buyer and has already been paid. Original buyer was murdered by a rival and no pickup was ever going to happen.
Slaves:
The young women in question are cast offs from the super hero association, having been destroyed in the fight that happened. All had their powers drained completely, a few maimed beyond recognition, and a couple who were slated for a short life having been unable to recover completely. Rather than fix them and sell them as sex slaves, or use them in other ways, they simply gave them to a small time slaver and had him sell them. This is an ongoing thing as the villains defeat more heroes who come to reclaim the government and city
Plot:
Harmless at first, ends up buying items and selling them after upgrading them, uses the girls as slave labor to sell them and start building funds. Has begun re powering them and altering their powers as well. Turns into a small corporation type situation, buying low grade products and upgrading them. Invests into a pawn shop and begins turning over merchandise faster than it can come in. From Pawnshop to retailer, it begins buying mass amounts of cheap goods.
Takes over a mall space and turns the tiny Pawnshop into a large scale business. The girls operate as muscle, lieutenants, and eventually willing accomplices. Begins making more purchases from the slavers at auctions, aiming specifically for women between 18 to 30 with powers even if depowered. It’s frank with his age preference as he views them as his personal harem, more than a slave pool or employees. Has never forced sex on any of them had expected it originally. Sleeps with any of them who are willing, but doesn’t speak of the nights activities to anyone else.
The conflicts start small, other small time crooks, a local mob/mafia. The police. Unknown plot arcs but would build slowly. He acts as the hero at first and solves many of the problems first hand, with fists, weapons or wits. As time moves on the scale of the conflict becomes cereberal and more of the business type of situations. Takeovers, buyouts, assassinations, character murders.
Result in Death/prevention of slaves running:
Magical or Physical slaves? Is it something that be broken through death or does death kill slaves
Hero:
Hero not a good person, does as he wishes? Loves someone at the fast food chain and doesn’t want to partake in the willing harem?
