It is so weird! I'd really like to know why, but I reckon Ash is onto something there with the superstition angle. Feng Shui is genuinely a big thing in some areas of China so maybe it's related?

Superstition about lucky dates and so on are common here in relation to weddings and so on.. and giving money.. but haven't any feng shui type references to buildings.. Could be, though!
