This is a really minor one.

Almost didn't see the point of writing/posting this, but updates like this are half the point of being in the patreon. I started writing late because I'm an idiot, and now I'm too tired from doing shit early in the morning, so I'm afraid of finishing this chapter and posting shit that seems good while I'm tired.

In the meantime, if anyone has any questions, ask away. I'll do my best to answer them.

So yeah, this seems like a good idea. Every time a chapter is late, you get to ask questions, that I will answer, or will make a note of to answer within the story at a later chapter.

Would it be possible to know how powerful sylver is now compared to his old body or would that give away to much information at this time?

Definitely (Not) a Necromancer

I honestly still expect your capters to he posted in like 4 hours x'D because it was the old time. Still confuses me that it is earlier now

Avery Aderyn

Does the experience penalty from raising the dead apply only to his original necromancer class or will Sylver's "new" class level slowly too?

PlasmaticPi

How do other people deal with the issues associated with higher level spellcasting? Do they just all get eldar trees eventually to help fix that as has been hinted Sylver is going to do, or is there other less effective and/or efficient ways around it?

Kingkennit

In terms of pure mana he isn't even at 1% of 1% of what he used to have. But then the soul bound items he always had come into the mix, as well as the various improvements he made to his body, that aren't feasible at his current level of mana. I don't know how to explain anything more without accidentally spoiling something. If you're asking what level he would have had, somewhere in the lower 5 digit area (including the soul bound stuff).

Kingkennit

If he raises undead/heals them, he will use up whatever xp he currently has, and if he doesn't have enough he will go into xp dept. Eg- He is 97% of the way to the next level, heals one shade and it drops down to 95%. He creates a bunch of zombies, and they're powerful and he's at negative 190%.

Kingkennit

They don't have an issue with higher level spellcasting. Sylver's issue is Ciege's body being completely unsuited to magic, if not for Sylver already knowing how to feel mana, Ciege would have been incapable of gaining access to any kind of magic related skill/perk/class. In New Eira people kill shit, get more levels, increase their intelligence and MP, get new skills, better classes, and get new spells/magic, until they get killed, or hit a ceiling and can't hunt any higher level monsters.

Felrook

Are you ever planning on doing a crossover with another author? Like using the other worlds thing as an excuse. It would be cool to “see” Sylver meeting characters like Ilea from Azarinth Healer or Vita from Vigor Mortis.

sri kalyan mulukutla

What tier of spells can Sylver can use now? Also when he found Edmund's blood on the sword how did he stay so calm?

Finalgear

I've been wondering if you have an idea of how the story will end and if each arc is working towards that as a loose-ish plan? Or are you just kind of going and planning arc by arc?

Adunk

Is Nyx the story’s Baba Yaga?

Helios6754

Why does raising things as a necromancer cost exp? It seems like the class is unusually weak because of that.

Helios6754

Also, can sylver raise the dead without using a skill so that the exp cost doesn’t apply? Since it’d be outside the system?

Mr. S

I am not impatiently waiting for new chapters, but I appreciate the communication. Many creators rarely ever say anything about their projects.

P enyuk

What are Sylver's sizes? What are Lola's sizes? Misha? Masha? What are Spring's sizes?

Zonk

Sadly the system is passive on all the time if he could turn it off he could also think about it

What is your favorite pizza?

The hell is ascension?

How tall is sylver now in his new body

Kingkennit

Maybe cameos/references, but that's about it. I know a bunch of them did stuff for April fools, so whose to say?

Kingkennit

What tier of spells can Sylver can use now? He can use 2nd tier magic, with each spell costing a minimum of 10,000 MP. Also when he found Edmund's blood on the sword how did he stay so calm? He found the blood on a [Hero]s sword, which frightened him and angered him so much that his joy was like a droplet of water inside a campfire. He also doesn't know what condition Edmund is in, and is trying to keep his hopes down so as not to be devastated when he finds him.

Kingkennit

Bit of both tbh. There is an "ending" so to speak, but I have a bad habit or changing the plot midway through an arc. The Prison Arc was supposed to be 50 chapters long, but I didn't like it by the 5th chapter and cut it short. Other Arc's I extend because I like them. I can't say its possible to figure out the ending from clues left throughout the story, but its been foreshadowed a couple of times already. The connection is super loose though, and will likely only be obvious once the story is finished.

Kingkennit

It would be an extremely OP class without that restriction. The system logic is that since the new necromancers don't need to spend a lifetime studying, and don't need to know what they're doing, the xp is used a sort of currency to hire the system to do all the logistics needed for a zombie to move around. Unlike golems/summons, undead necromancers raise don't need mana to stay around, their soul is enough to keep them as they are. But if they fight or are damaged, they cost MP and XP to be healed.

Kingkennit

There will be character art and sheets in the future, but at the moment, I don't have any concrete numbers.

Kingkennit

When a mage stops using prebuilt spells and understands their field of magic enough to start using magic directly. They essentially become sorcerers, except unlike sorcerers, ascended mages can decide they want a spell to do xyz, craft a spell to do that, and then can write that spell down and pass it on to their apprentices. In computer terms ascension is when a mage stops using prebuilt macros and can write his own software.

Kingkennit

He wasn't. A Koschei is specifically a person who cannot die until their silver needle is destroyed. He was a lich before he was killed. Its that whole, "all my thumbs are fingers, but not all of my fingers are thumbs" thing. A Koschei is a type of lich, but its a specific type of lich. Sylver would be a "tower lich" if there were enough liches in existence for there to be any point making up categories and types for them.

Helios6754

How big of jump in power is reaching a new tier for a mage? Are there a lot of mages in modern eira that are above the 3rd or 4th tier? Sylver seems to be able to destroy them with ease even if their level is way higher. I know he’s a special case but it still seems like modern magi are less powerful than earlier times. More plentiful, but also weaker in general

Kingkennit

It's a pyramid in terms of rarity. For every 1,000 1st tier mages, there's 1 2nd tier mage. For every 1000 2nd tier mages, there's 1 3rd tier mage. For every 20 9th tier mages, there's 1 10th tier mage. These numbers are somewhat off, I have the actual figures written down somewhere but I don't remember where I put it.

Kingkennit

How big of jump in power is reaching a new tier for a mage? A tier is essentially more to do with how much mana and effort spell requires, rather than what it does. Specifically in the Ibis to be considered an 8th tier mage, you need to be able to cast 1 8th tier spell 5 times in a row, without fucking up, or running out of mana. The cost varies on the school of magic, from least mana to most, light, plasma, gas, liquid, solid, darkness. Complexity is debatable, because for a mage that specializes in solid magic (eg earth) using gas magic is nearly impossible, and vice versa for gas magic. Similar to how for some people math is easy and effortless, but a humanity subject might be extremely difficult to understand.

sri kalyan mulukutla

If I remember right the fog spell that MC uses was around 4th tier right? But with current power lvl he is still able to use it. Does this mean system has a much more mana efficient version of the spell and the previous tier setup wasted lot of mana? Or system user is paying the price differently?

Kingkennit

In the case of Fog Form the system pays the mp cost for him, it doesn't cost him anything to use it, other than producing fog. It does this with a few other things, Mutating Override being a good example, he edits things using his own mana, but the system adds its own while he's editing.

LuciaCaine

Followup question, are ascended mages much rarer than they were pre-system because of how you don't need to be entirely competent to be a mage anymore?

Kingkennit

They "exist" but the pre system ascended mages cannot be compared to post system ascended mages. Pre system mages can effectively write in binary, because they understand the code their magic is made from to a ridiculous degree. Post system mages are given slightly smaller building blocks than the macros normal mages are given. They're still working with the tools the system provided them, and cannot even imagine writing raw code, they don't even know raw code is a thing that exists.

Mario Morales

Where is the system getting all these resources it's using? Will we get an answer on why it would be doing all this seemingly free but incredibly resource and ability intensive work?

Kingkennit

The spells system mages use are very inefficient, due to the system stealing a % of their mana whenever they cast a spell. So if Sylver could cast a spell for 100MP, the system would tell a normal mage that it costs 500MP to cast it, and will pocket the 400MP to give to someone else later.

Helios6754

Thank you for answering all my questions! Much appreciated 😁

Seen Death

Kind of hard for me to word, but for example how exactly does Sylver cast magic? Are all spells something that requires a (somewhat) unique formation so they all need to be researched and created in advance? Or does Sylver just basically free-form the mana to do what he intends? I feel like its the latter but with how ancient he is i could also see him memorizing countless spells just incase they come in handy- however unlikely it might be lol (in his field of research of course)

Kingkennit

In terms of software, the vast majority of his spells are the equivalent of a coder building 'their own code' by combining 50 different GitHub code snippets. In the past he would steal a spell, break it down into its individual components, and then put it back together in a way that he could use it. He still has the original spell memorized, but when he uses it he uses his stitched together version. His memory is unironically so shit because most of his head is filled with spells and rituals. There is a slightly more in depth explanation regarding magic coming up soon.
