Beat Eastward last night. It's been my go to game to play for like an hour before bed over the past few weeks, and now I've completed it!

Boy! That game is a bit of a mess!

I love the art design and the music is top notch, and I enjoyed the zelda-esque dungeon exploring and puzzles and such. But that story left a lot to be desired. I felt like it left a lot of things too open without clear explanations, or setting up scenes that I felt was going to be explained more in detail later but ultimately never did. On top of that, there's a lot of moments that felt like it was wasting my time, from quests that literally resulted in absolutely nothing to a bunch of boring dialogue with plot points I could see coming miles away. "Yeah yeah yeah. This character is gonna die once this chapter is done. I've seen this scenario play out a million times."

It's very much a C grade, 70/100 game. There's moments of brilliance with obviously talented people working on it, but it really needed an editor or someone to come in and start cutting portions of the game to help streamline it. For a game from a brand new studio, it's a great first effort. My hope is they learn the lessons from developing this and pull it a banger their next go around. I know they can do it.

They're coming out with a farming sim DLC for it that's completely disconnected from the main game/story set in an alternative world. Not sure if I'm gonna get it. Pretty sure my physical copy is from Japan, if not Asia in general, so I'll have to figure out where exactly to know which storefront to purchase it.
