I'm about a quarter or a third of the way through Aim for the Ace. It's just so overly dramatic all the time, which I absolutely love. Here's a clip I recorded while watching it today: https://twitter.com/Megazone23pt2/status/1678150010834243588
It's like that every single episode. Of course I knew that going in, what with it being a shoujo directed by Osamu Dezaki. I'm not even a fan of sports anime in general but I can't help but be engaged with Aim for the Ace. Hideaki Anno sure picked a good series to reference when making Gunbuster!
I'm thinking after I get through with this I'll go back and watch that Dear Brother bluray set I bought some years back. As that one is more of a general romance type series, I'm not sure how engaged I'll be compared to Aim for the Ace, but I'm sure I'll love the melodramatic moments all the same. Hell, that first episode I saw when I got it was great!
Alternatively, I want to check out the Aim for the Ace movie. Maybe I should look into getting that next time it goes on sale...
Speaking of buying things I haven't watched just to check it out instead of, ya know, renting it or pirating it or whatever, I ordered the bluray for the movie The Adventures of Baron Munchausen for $8 on Amazon! I'd never heard of it until last night when I read an article about its influences on Final Fantasy 4, which you can read here: https://art-eater.com/articles/final-fantasy-iv-and-the-influences-of-baron-munchausen

After watching the trailer, it seemed like a fun time. Plan is to watch it with my friends next time we have our get together in a month or so.
