After the 6 month grace period I had my AMC A-List reactivated so that I could go see Avatar 2. The ticket would've cost about $20 for the theater by me, so better to get A-List for $20 a month and try to see at least a couple movies a month at that point, right?

Avatar 2 was fun. The story completely falls apart and is dumb the moment you stop and think about it, but it's still some dumb fun. Some really great CGI and 3D effects. Nobody has yet to surpass James Cameron on the 3D front IMO. The constant shift in frame rate baffled me, though. Like, it would swap between traditional 24 to high frame rate from cut to cut in the same scene. You'll see characters walking and talking and it's 24, close up of a person's face and suddenly you're watching a PS5 cutscene. I swear I felt like I was watching the opening cinematic for a game and waiting for the game to suddenly give me control to start killing people at the train scene.

This is a movie I feel you have to see in theaters. Take away the large screen, the 3D, and the booming audio and it loses its charm. It's very much an experience that unless you have the right home theater system you won't be able to replicate.

But also $20 to see a movie is expensive. And it's over fucking 3 hours.
