A nice mixed bag of adventures in this one! We see some more Jasper, development for Greg, and STEVONNIE! Only 5 more to go in the season!

Just came back home from a long 4-hour summit, can’t wait to watch! :)

Yay excited to see these! Alone At Sea has one of my all-time favorite pieces of Steven Universe OST. The piece that plays during their encounter with Jasper is titled "You're a Monster" and listened to in isolation, just... god. What a spellbindingly stunning bit of soundtrack. There's a reprisal of Lapis Lazuli's theme in here that's fused with Jasper's heavy synth beats, and it just makes me FEEL things. As does this whole scene of Lapis facing the demons of her past. One aspect of her character that I feel is often overlooked, given she joins "our" team by siding with Steven, is that she HERSELF admits to the cruelty of what she did to Jasper. She admits that she was taking out all her inner anger on her when she imprisoned her down there under the ocean all those months. I mean, thinking about it logically, she did not *have* to fuse with Jasper in the s1 finale. She absolutely had the strength to push her away and side with the CGs then, if that's what she wanted. But no, instead she wanted to make someone else feel the same sort of pain that she did, all those millennia she spent trapped on Earth in a mirror. She's... quite a messed up person, looking at the situation from that angle. But at least now she's making an EFFORT to understand her wrongdoings and to slowly atone for them, which is what counts. I believe she was not only doing something healthy for herself, but genuinely sparing Jasper future pain here, by telling her no. _ I honest to god believe that the events of Greg the Babysitter are what inspired Rose to start thinking about having a baby of her own, and passing on her gem. I wonder if Sour Cream understands the galactic importance his existence holds lmao. _ Nice perceptiveness in calling out Steven's little theory about the corrupted Gems long before he did! Even if that's not ultimately the cause of the other set of footprints, it's still a really neat idea that made sense with the environmental evidence of the scene. Ahah and I love how uber over prepared Connie was for this mission- she definitely wouldn't have forgotten the moon goddess statue on that Sea Spire mission Steven went on in one of the first episodes lmao _ My absolute favorite part of Crack the Whip is the fact that when Stevonnie hurls their shield at Jasper, Jasper just sorta... grabs it and then stares at it all confused, like she doesn't understand why they threw it at her like that or what to do with it. It's just so funny to me ahahah. _ The fight at the end of Steven Vs. Amethyst is so, SO "siblings slapping each other with sticks in the backyard" core lmafo. If... said siblings also had superpowers. I really like that we get to see a glimpse of Steven's training sessions in this one. It's something that we've never really seen before, but was always insinuated to be happening in the background... I kinda wish I could've seen what this training was like earlier on, back before he grew decently proficient with his abilities.

I'll have to listen to the OST. I'm usually pretty good at catching music, especially reprisals, but I guess I was just wrapped up in what was going on this time! Lapis is an incredibly interesting character for the show - we don't really see them be aggressive in anyway, yet...they've done terrible things. They've written the character so well, that you almost don't even believe the bad things she did to Jaspe - at least I barely do. - When you put "galactic importance" with Sour Cream, it is so wildly hilarious - you're also probably right, I like that theory. - Thank you! I try so hard to get my theory thoughts out too, not just my squeals of enjoyment haha - Oooh, I missed that facial expression. I'll need to go back! - Oh man, in hindsight it really is. Just Super Babies™. It was fun to see them though, in a round about way, hype each other up 🤣
