Happy Friday y'all! Got some more Steven Universe for you this weekend! We're well on halfway through the first season so far - and I've got to say...it's been an absolute pleasure watching this here with y'all vs on YT. Not that I don't love YT, the stakes are just different 🤣

I think Sadie is supposed to be mid-late teens, 16-17 or so at this point.

Hey, Ever! Just playing catch-up here, since I've been out of town visiting in-laws. (Closer to your neck of the woods, in fact, I think. You're in NC, right?) Lion 3 is definitely my fave of this batch. I love the way it uses music. As a musician, you may find this interesting, actually: the first few times Steven encounters the mysterious landscape in Lion's mane, when he thinks that it's all just a weird dream, the somewhat surreal-sounding music we hear is Rose's theme played backwards. Then, when he finally figures out what's going on, the track reverses itself, and as the tree and its hill come into view, we finally hear Rose's Theme in full. I just found that super effective. Even without consciously noticing that it's the same theme played backwards (which I certainly didn't - my ear is nowhere *near* that good!), I think it works on a subconscious level so that the emergence of the hill, with its tree and assorted Rose artifacts, feels like a revelation in a deeper, more instinctive way than maybe it would have without those musical cues. In that episode in which Steven works at the Big Donut for a day, Sadie tells him that she first started at the Big Donut just as a summer job "a couple of summers ago." I assume she was a high school student of 16 or 17 back then, and so is probably out of school and around 18 or 19 now. Ronaldo was never a very comfortable character, but I agree with you that he's become even less so now. Yeah, I used to find conspiracy theorists a lot more amusing than I find them these days. Sigh. (When you get to Season 4, there's an episode that people reacted to far more negatively than they I think they likely would these days, because it aired in November of 2016, not long at all after that year's election. These things do happen sometimes.) Oh, wow, just realized that your next batch is a good one. Excited!

I am indeed in NC! I hope you enjoyed it! Ooh, yeah the music I would never have caught on to unless told. I love stuff like that though because in a way, I do feel like it's geared towards people who just want a little bit more out of the show, you know? I'm going to remember that she's 18 now 🤣 I swear, sometimes I can't tell if she's a kid or 32. But I think that's part of the charm as well. I enjoy her character a ton. Yeah the conspiracy stuff, I was big into as a kid, but you know - the standard ones, or at least the ones that were most popular. But nowawadays, I'm just like "nope, I would not like to participate with this at this time." 🤣 It's just become too much. I'll be curious to see it when I get there! Super excited for the next batch!, we're going to be closing in on the season soon!
