EOY guest posts: details and guidelines! (Patreon)

Hi everyone!

Thanks for being so enthusiastic to share your EOY posts!

If you're new here, this has been a yearly project for the Patreon community for a couple of years now, and you're welcome to join in, if you'd like!

Like last year, let's keep to a relaxed and flexible approach, so that you can beef up or streamline as much as feels right to you, to suit the drama year that you've had. 😄

CONTENT

* You don't have to limit yourself to Korean dramas; Japanese, Chinese, Taiwanese, and any other Asian dramas count too!

Introduction:

Do begin by saying something about yourself, like how you got inducted into the Kdrama world, the shows you tend to like, etc, because there may be new readers who haven't gotten to know you yet.

1.  Your top drama picks of 2023

This can be Top 10, Top 5, Top 3, it's completely up to you to decide what works for your drama year.

This will also include your drama of the year, your #1.

2.  Best Actor (include show)

Your pick may be either male or female, since "actor" is technically a gender-neutral term.

If you wish, you can split it up to include Best Actor and Best Actress

3. Best OTP (include show)

If you can't choose between two OTPs, feel free to have a tie.

4. Best supporting actor (optional)

Again, you can pick either an actor or actress, or you can split it up into Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress, if you like.

Also, you can skip this section, if you don't have anyone in mind.

5. Razzie Award

Basically for the worst show or the show that promised so much but delivered so little.

Feel free to pick 1, 3, 5 or however many you need, in order to fully release your drama grievances. 😁

6. Any additional special awards

I thought this would be a helpful one to include, because some of you might have a particular passion for music, or have a show that you want to give special attention to.

So, you might include something like Best Original Score or Best Original Song in this section, or you might include something like Best Hidden Gem.

In other words, it's up to you, and your creativity, to create an award that suits what you want to express.

* Feel free to create a section for shows that aren't from 2023, that you watched this year!

LOGISTICS (Important, please read)

The easiest way to get your posts to me, is for you to email your posts to me (to kfangurl@gmail.com).

1. Please have your post in Word format.

2. Please attach your screenshots to your email, instead of embedding them into your Word document. This makes it easier for me to work with. 😅

3. Screenshots shouldn't be too big, nor too small. Pictures between 900 px to 1080 px wide would work best.

4. You can indicate in your Word document, where the various screenshots should appear.

5. YouTube links: You can just copy and paste those into your Word document; once I pop it into a draft on WordPress, it'll automatically embed the video into your post!

6. Please send your final draft to me 3 days before the post goes live, so that we have time to get it properly sorted and ready to go.

SCHEDULE

Last year, Elaine made a great suggestion, that we should allow ourselves to spread out these posts, and not feel like everything needs to be published by 31 December.

And so, we had 2 guest posts a week, and that unfolded into early 2023, which worked out fine.

With that in mind, here are some dates that you guys can volunteer for!

Note: these are the dates when the posts would go live on the main blog, so your posts would need to be sent to me at least 3 days before the stated publishing date.

ADD-ON: SCREENSHOTS

Because a couple of you have found this suggestion useful, I'm updating the post to mention it as well, so that it could perhaps help more folks.

If you're having trouble getting screenshots, MDL is often a great resource. Go to the show's page on MDL, and scroll to the Photos section, which is below the Cast and Credits section. If you click on "view all" you'll see all the photos in a grid format (often there are multiple pages of photos).

Don't download from the grid format directly, you'd only end up getting the the thumbnail. Right-click on the photo you want, to open it in a new tab or window, so that you can see the full photo, then right-click on the photo itself, and select "download image as" to download to a location in your computer, which you can, at this step, determine.
