Early Access: Moving E1-2 (Patreon)

E1-2. Ooh. I like this one right away, you guys, and I mean like, in the first 5 minutes right away. 😁

Immediately, we're introduced to Bong Seok, one of our main high school characters, and I find him all kinds of endearing.

He's got this earnest, guileless, good-natured, sweet-tempered vibe about him, and I find him all the more endearing, the more I learn how much he's been through, growing up with a special ability - the ability to float, which I'm guessing might turn into the ability to fly, if he can get it under control?

Because of that, his mom's been through a great deal, trying to help him to live a normal existence - learning to walk like a normal kid, for example, and definitely not floating up under any circumstances, because there is definitely an urgency about Mom, to keep Bong Seok's abilities secret.

Speaking of Mom, I was gobsmacked to realize that Mom is played by Han Hyo Joo, whom I love so much extra, after seeing her being all badass in Happiness.

And, it seems like she's going to also have a chance to be badass in this show too, because if I understand Show correctly, all these special abilities kids, come from parents with special abilities.

I'm still not sure what Mom - listed as Mi Hyun - has, as her special ability.

All I know is, she's clearly very savvy around guns, because she's able to put that gun back together very well - and she looks like she'd be pretty darn good too, if she had to use that gun against someone.

The thing that really strikes me, is how ordinary and run-down they've manage to make Han Hyo Joo. It makes her feel so approachable and relatable, and it also kinda makes me feel like maybe any of us could look as good as our favorite celebrities, with the right help. 😁

At this point, I also wanted to say that my heart really went out to Mi Hyun, when we see how much she's been through, to bring up Bong Seok, while working to keep him safe - and secret.

It's hard enough to be a single parent to a regular child, but to be a single parent to a child with superpowers that you need to keep hidden, looks like a million times harder.

I do get the sense that Bong Seok is her whole world, and that she would do anything to keep him safe - even if it means going to war against unknown dark forces.

I'll get to the threat to our superpowered characters later, but first, I'd like to say that I realize that I realize that I have a great deal of residual affection for Go Youn Jung, after watching her in Alchemy of Souls.

I surprised myself, by perking up a great deal when she appeared on my screen, and smiling a big ol' smile, because it felt that good to have her back on my screen. 🥰

It's admittedly quite a different role for her here, where she plays a high school student, but somehow I have no trouble believing that she's a senior in high school, who's just doing her best to make the most of her situation.

Her character Hee Soo's so matter-of-fact and practical about everything, and at the same time, there's a very likable quality about her, like she's not taking things too hard, even when things aren't the best, like how their family is tight on money and therefore she can't afford to have the hagwon lessons that would help her do better in school.

I am digging the budding friendship between Hee Soo and Bong Seok, and of course, Bong Seok's burgeoning crush on Hee Soo is completely adorable.

I love how, when Bong Seok's happy or excited, he can't help floating, and it's cute and funny, how the poor guy's fighting so hard to stay cool and stay grounded (literally!) when he's around Hee Soo. 😁

We're not told exactly what Hee Soo's superpower is, but it does look to be something about strength &/or endurance, since she's such a natural athlete.

And then there's class monitor Kang Hoon, who's all studious and scholarly on the outside, but has super strength, which we see him demonstrate, when he beats up the class bully, who was clearly trying to peep at Hee Soo while she took a shower.

We don't know Kang Hoon very well, but the fact that he's taking action to protect Hee Soo, makes me immediately think of him as one of the good guys.

And gosh, does it look like Class Bully's been beaten up bad, since he basically blacks out from Kang Hoon's last blow to his head, and just sits there, with blood dripping from his nose.

But, Class Bully's been horrible enough, that I don't actually feel sorry for him, for the beating he got.

At this point, I do think I should mention that there is some violence in this show.

Besides the scene where Class Bully gets beaten up, there are also other violent scenes, because there's a secretive organization that's going about eliminating - or "deleting," as they say - retired superpowered people.

The fact that they're referred to as "retired" implies that they'd been employed by someone, for something, doesn't it?

We don't yet know the details around that, but it appears that the retired superpowered ones, including the parents of our special highschoolers, are being targeted for elimination.

The elimination scenes are violent, it's true, but I also think it's nothing you wouldn't see in any other superhero action movie, where there are showdowns between the good guys and the bad guys.

It's just hard to watch, because the "retirees" who get killed, are clearly just trying to live quiet lives, minding their own business, and here comes this assassin dude who's here to kill them, just because their codenames are on a list.

I'm sure this means that the parents of our special highschoolers won't be able to keep on living their quiet lives, and if Mi Hyun prepping her gun is anything to go by, it seems quite likely that these parents are going to team up, to protect their kids.

I'm not sure what the deal is, with the school, but it seems like the teachers know about these kids' superpowers, and there's an old dude who wants to see their powers, it looks like.

Given the rest of the context that we've been given so far, it feels like Old Dude is possibly sussing them out for "recruitment" purposes?

Homeroom Teacher, listed as Il Hwan, seems to want to protect the kids, while Assistant Teacher, listed as Sung Wook, seems a lot more likely to sell them out. Very curious to see how that pans out.

All in all, this was a really strong start, coz it isn't often that I fall in like with a show in under 5 minutes, and I am so stoked, that I have 18 more episodes of this show to enjoy, instead of just 6 or 8.
