Well, this looks different and interesting.

This is the story of childhood friends Kiyo and Sumire move to Kyoto to become maiko (apprentice geishas). Apparently, while Sumire takes to the training quite well, Kiyo doesn't - but discovers a talent in cooking.

I think this could provide a fascinating glimpse into the world of maiko, and I'm so pleased that this will be available to international audiences!

Show is 9 episodes and is due to drop on Netflix on 12 Jan 2023.

Yes, looks great! I loved reading Memoirs of a Geisha (the film not so much) and this looks like it will be really interesting and possibly lovely!

Reminds me of one of my favorite movie reviews ever. “What is ‘Memoirs’ about? It’s about rain, lots and lots of rain. But more than that, it’s about snow.”
