@Alexandra - Thanks for this list you posted in the discussion with Trent. I am reposting here because I have some questions, well, and some comments as well. 1. Oh I have been wondering about Gogh, The Starry Night. Thanks, I might peek at it :) 2. LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Mad About Each Other. KFG has notes on Patreon about the Show. Did you see them? I just recently did a rewatch on that Show. Love it. 3. Shooting Stars was lots of fun 4. I think I have heard about Miss Korea in passing...hmmm 5. Oh I keep flip and flopping about Thirty but Seventeen. Is it worth it? 6. OMO! Love JBL and have rewatched it 5 times now. Trent watched it and "liked it" ok I think he said. 7. Havent even seen Dr. Romantic 1! Its been on my list. 8. Princess' Man, I looked it up said it was the Romeo and Juliet story, ugh. So no puppies, unicorns and rainbows? 9. Flower of Evil, Fantastic ML, liked the story mostly, FL didnt work for me sadly :( Just saw her in The Good Doctor and she didnt work for me there either :( Alexandra's Suggestions _______________________________________________________________ Gogh, The Starry Night - nice romance, short eps, very funny Mad about each other - romance, short eps, very funny Shooting stars - one of the best series this year, funny, not too serious but with heart, whenever I'm under the weather I watch some of their funny scenes Miss Korea - great cast, nice plot (sometimes a bit dragging), one of the best second couple ever (the main couple is great too) Thirty But Seventeen - romance, balanced mature (although young) respectful couple Just between lovers Dr. Romantic 2 The Princess' Man - just my favourite romance sageuk so far Flower of evil May I recommend you some movies too? (that I really liked or are on my must list) Under the hawthorn tree - Chinese Minari - Korean Our times - Taiwanese 1d

1. Starry Night is a light show, but funny and with a charming rough going on gentle male lead. 2. I haven’t seen them yet, only read her review on the main blog. I also did a rewatch on the show. 3. Yes, those ML’s faces! Had me cracking a lot. 4. Miss Korea is underrated, but well worth it. It has a flawed ML (my kind of show), a realistic (for a k-drama) love story and as I said before the most unexpected and delicious second couple ever (a thug who didn’t even go to high-school and a Phd. Chemist) 5. It’s a good story with decent, charming, down to earth leads. Although it’s not a show I’m inclined to watch again, I did like it. 6. It’s on my rewatch list too. 7. Jennifer, that’s a must, at least the first season! Do give it a try. I really enjoyed Season 1, Master Kim and his excellent team of doctors and nurses are just great (of course fairy tale great, as in most self-respecting k-drama :), but done right). The love story is nicely woven into the plot. It has one of the best first episodes I’ve seen. Season 3 is coming at the end of the year, and I find myself enthusiastic about it. 8. At the end, it’s not that heart-breaking, don’t worry. It’s a sweeping romance, very well told and with excellent background plot (based on real history). There are 2 strong female-leads, but strong in their context (not overtly feministic as in other period dramas). The character growth is clear for both our leads, and although the ML turns bad at some point, you still sympathize with him because he is so tortured. I actually liked that he is flawed because I tend to find male leads in sageuks too perfect to be true for that time. So, I enjoyed his ride from a rough I don’t care if I hurt you guy to a more compassionate and caring person. I liked The Princess' Man more than the The Red Sleeve (too feminist for me) and Bloody Heart (beautiful, but I wasn’t that invested in the love story).

So the first episode of Once Upon a Small Town dropped last night. I found the acting and direction rather awkward, like people didn’t quite react to situations the way I would expect them to. SPOILER For example, at one point FL drives carelessly and a young man avoiding her car jumps into the rice paddy field and gets all muddy. I thought he would be mad about it considering he was wearing nice clothes, but he just stares at FL bemused while she gets out of the car, fusses over him but then doesn’t really apologise. As she drives off, muddy young man stares after the car and wonders who is in the car with her (ML of course). Like… huh? Also they are laying on the small town hick vibes rather thick. So far the premise seems very similar to Hometown Cha Cha Cha, i.e. big city boy relocates to rural town and clashes culturally with the locals, taking umbrage when the local aunties barge into his house with banchan (Me at this point: yes the aunties are annoying but OMG, accept the banchan, I’m sure they are yummy!!) Annoying aunties are par for the course in Asian dramas, but seeing them kinda made me… nostalgic? Since I haven’t seen my own aunties much cos of the pandemic. I am also fortunate that none of my aunties are so stereotypically nosy haha! Anyway, long message to say, mixed feelings, but the animals are very cute (ML is a vet). And my son seems quite keen on the show so I will probably watch more! Haha.
