Sci-fi poll: subgenres (Patreon)

Hey FreshMen,

We are in the middle of big transformations, including recruiting many people to work with us. With more people, we’ll be able to work on more projects, but these projects require a lot of time and market research to be properly shaped into something tangible.

Our priorities:

1) FreshWomen Episode 6

2) Fantasy game

3) Sci-fi game

Sci-fi has a vast variety of subgenres, so I did some research and categorized these possible subgenre and settings. Which ones do you like to see in our new sci-fi project?

• Space Opera: Epic adventure and heroic characters, interplanetary battles, hero's journey feeling. (Star Wars, Duna, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Mass Effect)
• Cyberpunk: domination of megacorporations, some live on scrap metal and others on the highest luxury, focusing on “High tech and low life”. (BladeRunner, Neuromancer, Cyperpunk 2077, The Ascent)
• Steampunk: 19th century victorian variation of Cyberpunk (Arcane, Final Fantasy VII, Bioshock, The Order of 1886)
• Virtual Reality:  Special devices place players in a virtual environment, which can make you live another life, reality, competition, or adventure. (Warcross, Ready Player One, Avatar, Black Mirror, Sword Art Online, Assassin’s Creed)
• Post-apocalyptic: The world ended by some catastrophe, terrible epidemic or war. Survivors must move forward in this shattered reality. (The Walking Dead, Mad Max, The Last of Us, Fallout: New Vegas, Horizon Zero Dawn)
• Terraforming/First Contact: humans arriving in a new planet and/or converting inhospitable worlds to ones capable of supporting life through artificial means. (The 100, Star Trek, Arrival, The Martian)
