Communication Tasks

This week I noticed that my work load changed dramatically since we launched episode 1:

  • Before Episode 1 I didn’t have a Patreon to manage, I barely had anyone sending me messages.
  • After Episode 1, I now have to post several times a week and I get a lot of questions here on Patreon, on Itch io, on Discord, and on my inbox.

I was feeling swamped with lots of messages to answer, and I felt bad if I couldn’t answer in 24 hours.

So I hired Saniya to help me answer the most common questions I get daily. He should restore my workload to manageable levels.

Marketing and Management Tasks

I also noticed my marketing and management workload increase a lot:

  • Before Episode 1, I wasn’t looking to hire anyone, we were an informal team with no legal obligations, and marketing was not a priority.
  • After Episode 1, I now must hire people, train them, communicate with my accountant, budget our finances and look for ways to sell the game to new people.

These new tasks blocked me from doing the Movie Editing (More on this later) and play testing that I used to do in episode 1.

So my solution will be to recruit a Movie Editor.

A Movie Editor

After Tsundere-Writer makes the script and Daisuke3D renders the images, the last task is importing everything into Ren’py. I struggled to find a name for this task until I figured out it was movie editing:

  • Stitching raw scenes together with transitions.
  • Color grading the renders.
  • Amplify the emotions of the scene with the right music and sound effects.

These tasks were in my hands in Episode 1, but for Episode 2, I’ll recruit and train someone to do them.

Luckily, we’ll only need a part-time editor, and I think we can afford him thanks to all the support you’re sending our way.
