From a friend and fan some questions answered!

Quick FAQ

  • Generator: a type of person who can cause growth in others and themselves (Naomi, Benton)
  • Battery: a type of person who can store growth energy (Luna)
  • Mega: a person who will exhibit muscular growth (Hannah)
  • Giga: a person who will exhibit super muscled growth (Karen)
  • Normal: a normal person who grows (Alexander, most of the characters you see)

Question: Can any growth type be powerless against another growth type?  Example of what i mean is could a Generator be overpowered by a Battery or vice versa?  Does any one type completely overpower all others (I don't mean by physical size) or is like one can overpower one but not another, kinda like rock, paper, scissors?   We know that each growth has it's strengths (height, expansion, muscle growth, etc.), but do any of the growth types have any flaws/hindrances outside of possible compromised rational thought, memory lapses, possible non-stop growing and/or extreme sexual arousal?  If so, could you explain what types have what flaws outside of what I mentioned if there are any?

Answer: Thanks for the question and I'll answer what I can!

I don’t know if any one type has a big advantage inherently over others. Perhaps the battery and the generator types are in natural conflict since battery types can absorb energy.

I can say this, when I started coming up with the idea of growth types it was when I introduced Luna. She was the first defined type (at least in the comics). I had the idea in the back of my head for a while but when I did Growth Lab 12 & 13 I solidified the idea there were ways people could be affected by any growth energy.

The idea with Luna, which may partially answer the question, was Luna had been absorbing energy for a long, long time. She was one of the people who helped create the growth energy. She also had a natural immunity or resistance which lead her to think there was no problem with what she was doing. Her encounter with Naomi changed that. That was the moment Luna (a battery close to her limits) met Naomi (a generator). The result was Luna grew out of control. That growth was due to the fact Luna could not absorb any more energy and needed to release it.

From then on I started to think of the characters with some sort of ‘type’ attached to them. It made things a lot easier when I was coming up with story ideas to know who was in what category. I think if I had to break it down I would look at it like this:

- Battery types can cancel out a Generator type

- Normals can occasionally trigger growth episodes (sort of like a mini one shot generator)

- Generators can cause outbreaks or overload Batteries under the right conditions

- Mega’s and Giga’s are mostly about power and strength, they are also the toughest physically (and possibly had a some toughness when it comes to mental protection or resistance to sexual desires though that has not been clearly proven at this point)

One thing I imagine is a Battery type who is ‘empty’ might be able to absorb a LOT of growth energy and thereby cancel a giant growth episode. I am not sure but I think I’ve written a few things like that before. Someone like Luna enters the scene and pulls in all the energy around her. She would be akin to a dry sponge on a wet countertop.

To wrap it up, each type of growth has its advantages and disadvantages. There’s a little rock, paper, scissors going on for sure and later animations and comics will explore it more!

Thank you for the question!

Giga growth sounds hot. Which comics is Karen in, if any?

Hey there! She is in the Growth Lab serious from GLU017 - The Maker onwards. She doesn't see a lot of Giga growth in the comics BUT she is definitely getting Giga growth in the animations.
