The Dendy on George (which predated Tribal) was one of the central features of my young adult life. I'd moved to Brisbane from rural QLD, where my only access to interesting movies was the Des Mangan's cult movie show on SBS. I couldn't believe I finally had the chance to see stuff by Gregg Araki and Wong Kar Wai in an actual cinema rather than just on VHS. My first adult relationship ended up being one with of the staff, and because we were layabout uni students with plenty of time on our hands we basically spent every day there, watching whatever was screening at the time. It was my first time being in the projection box, handling real film, and seeing what the back-end of a cinema looked like. Lots of beautiful and bittersweet memories attached to the place. Anyway, this longwinded comment is just to confirm that the building is 100% haunted.
